The city of Seoul has launched a new beauty and wellness tourism initiative, unveiling a curated list of 100 wellness destinations. This program aims to establish Seoul as a leading global wellness destination by blending South Korea’s rich tradition and culture with its modern beauty industry.
The initiative is a core component of the ‘3377 Seoul Tourism Future Vision.’ The goal is to provide travelers with a unique and holistic experience that combines physical rejuvenation with cultural immersion.
A Curated Selection of Wellness Experiences
The 100 destinations were selected through a process that involved recommendations from the public and evaluations by industry experts. These locations are organized into four distinct themes to cater to a variety of wellness interests. The categories are: Beauty & Spa, which highlights modern K-beauty trends; Wellness & Nature, for relaxation and connecting with the natural environment; Korean Medicine & Health, focusing on traditional healing practices; and Gourmet & Healing Food, which promotes health through diet.
This thematic approach allows visitors to easily find experiences that match their personal wellness goals, from advanced skincare treatments to traditional medicinal therapies and healthy cuisine.
Strategic Promotions and Partnerships
To promote the initiative, Seoul is collaborating with major retailers, including Lotte Department Store and Shinsegae Department Store. A special exhibition showcasing the 100 selected destinations will be held at the Lotte Department Store Main Branch from June 7 to June 16. The exhibition will feature experience zones, photo spots, and various events.
In addition, a ‘K-Medical & Beauty Festa’ is scheduled for June to attract international visitors, featuring K-beauty makeup shows. The city plans to develop themed travel packages based on the wellness destinations and promote them through global online travel agencies and Hallyu-affiliated networks.
Kim Young-hwan, Director of the Tourism and Sports Bureau, stated that the initiative would solidify Seoul’s brand as a premier wellness tourism city by offering unique experiences that merge the city’s traditional charm and modern trends.
