(Yicai) April 8 — China’s revenue from domestic tourism over the three-day Qingming holiday jumped 12.7 percent from a year earlier thanks to various consumption channels, including flower viewing and self-drive tours.
Income from tourism was CNY54 billion (USD7.5 billion) during this year’s Qingming Festival that ended on April 6, according to data released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on the same day. The number of tourists rose 11.5 percent to 119 million compared with 2019.
Trips in China exceeded 750 million, up 56 percent from a year ago and 21 percent from 2019, with that by road estimated at 690 million, according to statistics from the Ministry of Transport.
Bookings of rental cars soared 240 percent year on year, data from Trip.Com showed. The number of self-drive trips jumped 61 percent, according to statistics from Tuniu.
