The Director of the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, said on Thursday that the SAR is closely monitoring the potential impact of US-imposed tariffs on the confidence of mainland Chinese tourists.
US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday a 90-day suspension of what he described as “reciprocal tariffs,” including a baseline tariff of 10 per cent for all countries, except China, on which a total tariff of 125 per cent has been imposed.
“At the moment, we are observing what is happening. Of course, we always have to remain very alert,” Senna Fernandes acknowledged.
