8th March 2025 – (Hong Kong) The Hong Kong Tourism Board has announced a reduction of HK$300 million in its funding for the upcoming financial year, leading to the suspension of its monthly drone and fireworks displays over Victoria Harbour. These events will now be held only on specific festive occasions. Peter Lam Kin-ngok, the incoming chairman of the board, stated during a recent session of the National People’s Congress in Beijing that this decision aims to reallocate resources towards larger events designed to attract more visitors.
