Tourism is expanding in Hong Kong, welcoming travellers from two more Chinese cities – Xi’an and Qingdao. Announced on February 23, 2024, travel for residents of Xi’an and Qingdao to Hong Kong and Macau will improve as they will be granted the freedom of “individual travel”.
The National Immigration Administration of China has expanded its Individual Visit Scheme, allowing more Chinese to visit these destinations on their own rather than in tour groups. Starting from March 6, 2024, people of Xi’an and Qingdao will be able to apply for an “individual travel endorsement” or an individual permit to explore Hong Kong and Macau.
