Canada’s recent move to tighten immigration regulations is set to have a significant implication on all those applying for or holding temporary resident documents, including study and work permits. If reports are to go by, the new measures, implemented by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) which came into effect on January 31, 2025, are designed to enhance border security .
Border and immigration officials will now have more authority to revoke electronic travel authorisations (eTAs), temporary residence visas (TRVs), and even employment and study permits under the revised laws.
