DigiYatra, which enables paperless check-ins for domestic air travel, is poised to expand its services to international passengers with the upcoming digital enrolment of passports.
“Currently, DigiYatra is available only for domestic travel, but we aim to extend it to international travel soon. Our e-passport based enrolment is undergoing prototype testing, and we expect to roll out the new update by the end of this month or mid-June,” said Suresh Khadakbhavi, CEO of DigiYatra Foundation,the AWS (Amazon Web Services) summit in Bangalore on Wednesday.
The foundation is also in talks with the Bureau of Immigration in India and international airports to facilitate seamless travel for outbound fliers from India. “We have initiated discussions with other countries. The EU has its own digital identity system, which we aim to leverage for a potential prototype between the two regions,” Khadakbhavi added.
