Kolkata: A former SSKM doctor, Sanjay Ghosh, lost Rs 2.5 lakh to fraudsters operating a fake website mimicking Odisha Tourism Development Corporation guesthouse booking platform on Wednesday. When Ghosh clicked on the site, a crook posing as the guesthouse manager contacted him, and shared the bank details to accept payment for the booking on WhatsApp.
Ghosh realised he was scammed when he received a “Booking Not Approved!” message after transferring the funds. Ghosh filed a complaint at Survey Park PS. —Dwaipayan Ghosh
