Goa Tourism unveiled its “transformative tourism vision” at a recent B2B meet and roadshow held in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The initiative, led by Rohan A. Khaunte, Minister for Tourism, IT, E&C, Printing & Stationery, Government of Goa, aimed to position Goa as an “all-season” and “all-experience” destination. The event sought to attract high-spending tourists and foster collaboration with Rajasthan’s travel industry.
### Goa’s Evolving Tourism Strategy
During the Jaipur meet, Minister Khaunte articulated Goa’s strategic shift from mass tourism to a more sustainable and responsible model. The vision emphasizes enhancing tourism infrastructure and promoting niche segments beyond its traditional beach-centric offerings. Key focus areas include cultural tourism, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism, experiential tourism, wellness tourism, eco-tourism, spiritual tourism, and hinterland tourism. This diversified approach aims to showcase Goa’s rich heritage, vibrant culture, and scenic beauty throughout the year, ensuring economic benefits trickle down to local communities while preserving the state’s natural resources. The Minister highlighted the upcoming Sagarmala Project and the Vibrant Goa initiative as key drivers for this transformation, promising world-class infrastructure and a comprehensive tourism ecosystem.
### Fostering Interstate Collaboration
The event served as a crucial platform for fostering collaboration between Goa and Rajasthan’s tourism sectors. A delegation from Goa Tourism, comprising representatives from the Goa Convention Bureau, hoteliers, and travel agents, engaged in productive interactions with over 250 tour operators and travel agents from Rajasthan. A significant outcome of the meet was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Goa Convention Bureau and the Rajasthan Association of Tour Operators (RATO). This agreement is designed to boost MICE tourism and facilitate enhanced connectivity and package development between the two states.
Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, welcomed the Goa delegation and acknowledged the long-standing relationship between the states. She highlighted Rajasthan’s immense tourism potential, remarking that “Rajasthan, a state with an 850-kilometer coastline, is poised to become the leading destination for both domestic and international tourists.” The exchange underscored a shared commitment to promoting domestic tourism and exploring synergies that benefit both destinations, with a particular focus on attracting high-spending clientele and promoting diverse travel experiences.
