The Great Indian Bustard, often referred to as the Godawan locally, stands as one of India’s most magnificent avian species. However, its once-thriving population has dwindled dramatically over the years, pushing it to the brink of extinction. As efforts intensify to safeguard this majestic bird, understanding its habitat and conservation status is imperative.Historically, the Great Indian Bustard roamed across vast grasslands and semi-arid regions of the Indian subcontinent. Today, its range has significantly contracted, primarily due to habitat loss and fragmentation caused by agricultural expansion, urbanization, and industrial development.
