New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday issued an advisory to its citizens living in or travelling to Rakhine State of Myanmar. The government has asked people to avoid travelling to the country in view of increased violence and disruptions in modes of communication in the country.
Travel advisory for citizens
In the advisory issued to its citizens which was released on its website, the MEA said, “In view of the deteriorating security situation, disruption of means of telecommunications, including landlines, and severe scarcity of essential commodities, all Indian citizens are advised not to travel to the Rakhine State of Myanmar. Those Indian citizens who are already in Rakhine State are advised to leave the State immediately.”
