India’s government is taking a step towards enhancing tourism and regional connectivity by developing a modern airport near the Statue of Unity, a renowned tourist attraction, in the Narmada district’s Tilakwada taluka. The proposed airport, which falls under the government’s vision to promote tourism, is one of 11 greenfield airports in the state.
Airport At Ekta Nagar: A Solution to Connectivity Conundrum
Under the scheme to boost tourism, the government has identified land for the proposed airport at Ekta Nagar, situated in proximity to the Statue of Unity. The airport will feature a 3,000-meter-long runway and will be constructed on land spanning the villages of Kherkuva, Bhadarva, and Sureva. The need for an airport in this area arises from the steady influx of domestic and international tourists visiting the Statue of Unity.
