Following in the footsteps of countries like Mauritius, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Jamaica, Iran recently announced a new policy granting visa-free entry to citizens of India. Effective from February 4, 2024, this waiver aims to promote cultural exchange and boost tourism. As part of a broader initiative, the waiver has been extended to 33 countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Singapore, and Indonesia. The Iranian authorities approved this measure in December 2023.
Under Iran’s latest policy initiative, visa-free entry is exclusively for citizens of India travelling to the country by air for tourism purposes.
