From April 1 onwards, Indian travellers planning a trip to Japan do not need to apply for a regular visa and take the hassle of making a checklist of documents and regular visits to the embassy as the peace-loving country has started the issuance of eVisas for Indian tourists. This much awaited development will enable people to apply for visas electronically through Japan Visa Application Centers managed by VFS Global, the world’s largest visa outsourcing and technology services specialist for governments and diplomatic missions worldwide.
Under this newly introduced scheme, travellers can obtain a single-entry short-term visa tailored for tourism purposes. The eVisas allows a maximum stay of 90 days in Japan. The eligibility for this eVisa extends to both Indian citizens and foreign nationals living in India.
