India is gearing up to revolutionize its rail network with the development of high-speed train systems, starting with the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project currently under construction. This ambitious venture represents a pivotal shift in the nation’s railway infrastructure. In the near future, more cities across India are expected to benefit from high-speed train connectivity.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently addressed inquiries in the Rajya Sabha raised by Geeta Alias Chandraprabha and Narayana Koragappa. He confirmed that the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project, spanning 508 kilometers, is presently the sole high-speed rail initiative formally approved in India.
