A Himalayan Haven: India’s Union Ministry of Tourism Unveils Tourism Boost Measures in Ladakh
In a significant move to bolster tourism in the Union Territory of Ladakh, the Union Tourism Ministry of India has recently announced a series of initiatives. Addressing the Parliament, the Ministry revealed that domestic tourists can now explore most parts of Ladakh, with the exception of some pockets along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China and the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan, which remain restricted due to security concerns.
In a shift from the previous regulations, permits are no longer required for domestic tourists visiting restricted areas in Ladakh. However, foreign tourists are still obligated to obtain permits. The safety and security of tourists are being ensured by the local administration in collaboration with security forces, which have established police check posts at strategic locations….
