Certain sections of the society are not opting for surrogacy due to the stringent and long process, while single women are even taking the recourse of getting married and then divorced to become eligibile for the procedure, said Dr Nayna Patel, medical director of Akanksha Hospital and Research Institute in Anand, a renowned centre for surrogacy and IVF.
Speaking to The Indian Express on the sidelines of the promotion for Dukaan, a Hindi movie based on surrogacy, in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, Dr Patel said the country has huge potential for medical tourism if the regulations are made flexible and accessible.
