Kaziranga: Northeast region has welcomed over 125 lakh domestic tourists in 2023, a significant increase from 70 lakh tourists in 2014. This was revealed by Union tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat during the inauguration of the 12th International Tourism Mart (ITM) for the Northeast Region held in Kaziranga.
The minister attributed this surge in tourist footfall to rapid infrastructural development in the region, including improved transportation networks, enhanced tourism facilities, and the development of new tourist sites.
