As per the latest reports, the upper reaches of Sikkim is currently experiencing heavy snowfall, leading to a sharp drop in temperatures and challenging road conditions. As a result of this change in the weather condition, there’s formation of black ice at Thulo Khola, rendering the road to popular tourist destinations such as Nathula Pass and Tsomgo Lake hazardous for vehicular movement.
As a precaution, the Tourism Department has temporarily suspended issuing permits for visiting Nathula and Tsomgo Lake. Travellers have been urged to stay informed about the situation and exercise caution.
