A Spanish national was allegedly gangraped in Jharkhand’s Dumka on Friday night after she and her partner stopped in the area while on a biking trip, officials said. Three suspects have been detained in connection with the case.
According to sources, the couple were going towards Bhagalpur via Dumka, and had put up a tent around midnight at a desolate area near Dumka’s Hansdiha market. There, they were assaulted by a group of people who also gangraped the woman, sources said.
“The woman and the man came to the roadside and stopped a patrolling van around midnight. Initially, the patrolling party did not understand much of the incident because the woman was speaking partly in English and partly in Spanish. They were then taken to the nearby health centre,” Dumka Superintendent of Police Pitamber Singh Kherwar said.
