CHENNAI: Travel between Bengaluru and Chennai on the Vande Bharat Express is set to become quicker. Soon travel time will be reduced to four hours—25 minutes faster than the current schedule.
Similarly, the Shatabdi Express, which takes around five hours, will see a 20minute reduction. These improvements follow plans to increase the speed limit on the Bengaluru-Jolarpet section.
The South Western Railway (SWR) Bengaluru division conducted a speed trial on Thursday to raise the limit from 110 kmph to 130 kmph.
Two Vande Bharat and two Shatabdi Express trains, running daily, are likely to benefit from this trial.
The upgrade will be implemented after clearance from the commissioner of railway safety.
