President Droupadi Murmu has announced that India has become the world’s third-largest domestic aviation market, which is greatly benefiting Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. This growth is the result of an average annual rate increase of 8% from 2021 to 2024. Furthermore, she highlighted that India has climbed from the 11th to the 5th largest economy globally during the past decade. This growth in the aviation sector has led to an increase in the number of airline routes in India from 209 in April 2014 to 605 by April 2024, allowing smaller cities to benefit from enhanced air connectivity.
