“We aim to increase the number of foreign tourist visits this year, especially those coming from the Republic of Korea. Hence, we took part in the SITF 2024,” Uno noted in his ministry’s statement received here on Monday.
The minister observed that South Korea remains among the most potential markets for Indonesia’s tourism industry.
The East Asian country ranks eighth among the 10 nations contributing the most to the number of international tourist visits to Indonesia in 2023, during which a total of 347,185 South Korean nationals had traveled to Indonesia.
As for this year, the Tourism and Creative Ministry has set the target of attracting 344,752 South Korean tourists to Indonesia, or 43.58 percent higher than the target of 194,500 tourists set in 2023.
Meanwhile, the ministry’s deputy for marketing, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, stated that Bali Province had become a top-of-mind destination for South Korean tourists seeking outbound experiences.
Apart from Bali, she stated that Indonesia also promoted its five super priority destinations, namely Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Borobudur in Central Java, Mandalika in West Nusa Tenggara, Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara, and Likupang in North Sulawesi.
She remarked that in order to attract more South Korean tourists, the ministry has placed special focus on tourism packages involving golf and other luxurious recreational activities.
“Indonesia’s tourism industry is offering tourism packages that conform with the interests of South Korean tourists, especially those from the upper economic class,” she pointed out.
The official further noted that at the SITF 2024, Indonesia is also promoting destinations suitable for making films.
“We have just launched the Indonesia Film Facilitation (accessible on https://www.iffa.id/) to facilitate international filmmakers to access information on beautiful film settings in Indonesia. This way, we can promote more destinations and attract more South Korean tourists,” she stated.
In promoting Indonesia’s tourism at the SITF 2024, the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry is collaborating with the provincial governments of Jakarta and South Sumatra as well as state-owned airlines Garuda Indonesia.
