Foreign tourists arrivals in
South Korea have surged this year, but fewer are coming from former top Southeast Asian source country
Thailand, which has fallen to third place behind
Vietnam and
the Philippines.
Data from the Korea Tourism Organisation shows 119,000 Thai tourists visited South Korea from January to April, a 21.1 per cent decrease compared to the same period last year. In contrast, the overall number of foreign tourists increased 86.9 per cent during the same period, according to Yonhap News Agency.
Chinese tourists increased by 470 per cent and Japanese by 86 per cent, the data showed. Other Southeast Asian countries also saw significant increases, including the Philippines (76 per cent),
