The 14th Nepal-European Union (EU) Joint Commission meeting was held on Thursday, June 13, 2024. The gathering focused on reviewing the overall state of relations and discussing various aspects of cooperation between Nepal and the EU.
Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, and Head of Mission to the EU, Lok Bahadur Thapa, led the Nepali delegation. Ambassador Thapa is based in Brussels. The EU delegation was led by Director for Asia and Pacific in the European External Action Service, Paivi Kaukoranta.
During the meeting, both delegations reviewed the breadth of bilateral relations. Discussions covered development cooperation, trade, investment, connectivity, education, culture, climate change, energy, good governance, human rights, and regional and international cooperation. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the excellent state of their bilateral relationship and reaffirmed their commitment to further enhance cooperation.
It was mutually agreed that the 15th Nepal-EU Joint Commission meeting would be held in Kathmandu in 2025.
