Nepal is poised to provide a safe travel option for the queer community. Keeping this aim in mind, the country hosted its very first Rainbow Tourism Conference. The telos behind this conference was to highlight Nepal as a safe and respectful travel destination for travellers belonging to the LGBTQ+ community. The conference went on for one day. Nepal Hosts Its Very First Rainbow Tourism Conference
According to an article which was recently published by the Hindustan Times or HT, this particular conference was organised by the Mayako Pahichan Nepal. It is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to equal rights for the queer community in the country.
Mayako Pahichan Nepal collaborated with the Nepal Tourism Board to organise the event. The conference was held on Saturday, April 21 and it was only one day long. It was inaugurated by Bhagwati Chaudhary who is the Minister of Women, Children and Senior Citizens.
The primary objective of the conference was to promote diversity in tourism. It cemented the country’s position as a safe travel destination for the queer community. Bhagwati Chaudhary stated that the country has many laws in place to ensure the safety of the queer people.

Positions Itself As A Safe Travel Destination For Queer Folks
She also went on to say that collaboration with different stakeholders in promoting tourism for queer people is necessary. She also said that Nepal makes for an excellent destination for not just travel but also same-sex marriage and honeymoon.
Sunil Babu Pant, who is the first queer parliament member as well as the executive director of Mayako Pahichan Nepal, was also in attendance at the event. He said that he was thrilled to host the first Rainbow Tourism Conference of Nepal.
He said that it was a crucial step for the country in the right direction.
