Hong Kong’s tourism minister has addressed rumours that the city lost hosting rights to Lady Gaga’s concert to Singapore.
Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law was put in the hot seat by Hong Kong media on Feb. 28, a day before the Kai Tak Sports Park officially opened.
Within the sports park is a 50,000-seat stadium, where Coldplay will perform next month.
Hong Kong news outlet HK01 quoted Law as saying that Gaga will be performing somewhere nearby, and that many Asian cities vie for hosting rights for various events.
She added that the bureau is in discussion for other major events, but was unable to reveal the details due to “commercial considerations and industry practices”.
