Renowned designer Rahul Mishra is known for taking Indian designs to the global stage. In his latest collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board, he once again transcends borders, this time with marquee pieces inspired by the heart of Singapore.
“Singapore is a vibrant and multicultural city, exuding stunning beauty at every turn. It can be a great destination for weddings and of course, is the perfect muse for my bridal couture collection. The city’s vibe resonates with my design style; geometric, textured and elements of nature, blending modern and traditional influences. I’m thrilled to experience the allure of Singapore firsthand finally and wish that all couples-to-be can also find their ideal setting here.” Rahul Mishra said, speaking on the collaboration. After the designer’s recent stints at Paris Couture Week and the Grand Finale at Lakme Fashion Week, his new bridal collection featuring a few of these stunning Singapore-inspired designs is set to be showcased in one of the upcoming elite Indian fashion weeks as well.
Weddings are a delicate affair, where everything from the attire to the location has to be picture-perfect. With its picturesque venues and exceptional attractions, the city serves as the perfect wedding spot for couples, promising a blend of luxury, romance, and cultural richness, creating a captivating backdrop for ‘Beginnings. Made In Singapore’. The island city of Singapore is a throbbing heart of culture and colour – with a vibrant shopping scene, diverse cuisine and of course, the opulent offerings of Marina Bay. But the gem in the crown of the constantly evolving cultural hotspot, is its prevalence as a beautiful location for destination weddings.
Rahul Mishra was another such soul who found himself drawn to the city’s colourful tapestry. The Indian couturier is known to draw inspiration from nature, and this time, the cityscape of Singapore played muse to his creations. Vibrant bursts of colour reminiscent of Peranakan shophouses meet elaborate floral motifs evocative of Gardens by the Bay in the designs. Sensoryscape at Sentosa, as Rahul expresses, is “centred around your senses of sight, smell, and touch. It uses so many elements of nature to create this mystical experience. Something you’ll find very often in my designs as well.” Marina Bay and its grand skyline inspire the silhouettes that feature sleek lines reflecting the soaring architecture. Rahul Mishra weaves the essence of Singapore into the bridal designs.
Donning these eclectic designs, actress Tamannaah Bhatia also showcased the synergy between fashion and Singapore, highlighting the city’s beauty as the perfect backdrop for couples on their big day. We see Tamannaah in the gorgeous ensembles spread across different spots throughout the city, each more striking than the other. She shines in a gold breast plate ensemble at the Gardens by the Bay, a meeting of nature and technology; while adding a pop of colours with a summery floral dress and puffy shoulders across the colonial backdrop of Joo Chiat. “It’s an exceptionally well-made city, quite organised and one of the most evolved places in terms of technology. I think there was a great synergy between Rahul Mishra’s collection, which is very contemporary, and the evolved world of Singapore. The background supported the designs on the garments. I believe Singapore has all the essential elements for hosting a big fat Indian wedding.” Tamannaah Bhatia said speaking on her visit to Singapore.
The unique designs by Rahul Mishra offer a glimpse of the island city through the artisanal pieces, showcasing the elegance of Singapore as a destination for a Big Fat Indian Wedding. Known for the fanfare and enormity around Indian weddings, the hospitality and luxury offered by the island destination make Singapore the perfect destination for a wedding soiree. With its excellent locations, repertoire of gourmet offerings and postcard views, the land of Singapore beckons to the Indian couple, promising a plethora of memorable moments and experiences as beautiful as Rahul Mishra’s designs.
