Singapore Airlines enhances connectivity by resuming four daily flights to Perth, strengthening a 57-year partnership and boosting local tourism and economy.
PERTH, AUSTRALIA – In a significant boost to air travel and connectivity, Singapore Airlines has announced its return to pre-pandemic service levels at Perth Airport, commencing four daily flights starting March 31, 2024. This restoration marks a new chapter in the enduring 57-year partnership between Singapore Airlines and Perth Airport, underlining a mutual commitment to growth and service excellence.
Kate Holsgrove, Perth Airport’s Chief Commercial and Aviation Officer, lauded the longstanding relationship, emphasizing the airline’s pivotal role in expanding Perth’s access to global destinations. “The enduring alliance between Perth Airport and Singapore Airlines continues to thrive, bringing enhanced connectivity and service offerings to the Western Australia region,” Holsgrove said.
As the leading international carrier at Perth Airport by seating capacity, Singapore Airlines contributes significantly to the local travel and tourism landscape, offering over 930,000 seats annually. This expansion reinforces the airline’s position as a vital link in promoting business, education, trade, and tourism between Western Australia and Singapore, which stands as the region’s second-largest source of international visitors. Last year alone, visitors from Singapore injected $260 million into the local economy through spending.
The increase in flight frequency from Singapore Airlines will provide West Australians with greater flexibility and more travel options across Asia, Europe, and the USA via the Singapore hub. The move is expected to bolster international visitor numbers and stimulate further economic growth in the tourism sector.
In addition to the enhanced flight schedule, Singapore Airlines has also underscored its commitment to the Perth market with the recent opening of a new SilverKris Lounge at Perth International Airport. The lounge offers travelers premium services, including increased space, upgraded facilities, and a variety of dining options.
Louis Arul, SIA Regional Vice President for South West Pacific, highlighted the strategic importance of Perth in the airline’s international network.
“We are excited to return to pre-pandemic flight schedules as travel demand to and from Perth continues to be robust,” Mr Arul said.
“We are also pleased to offer travellers from Perth our brand new SilverKris Lounge at Perth International Airport, which boasts additional space, enhanced facilities and a range of new dining options to enjoy.”
The addition of a fourth daily flight, operated by an Airbus A350-900 with a capacity of 303 seats, will significantly increase the airline’s annual seat offering by 220,584, emphasizing Singapore Airlines’ investment in the region’s travel infrastructure and economic development.
This expansion by Singapore Airlines is poised to enhance Perth’s role as a crucial gateway for international travel, further strengthening the economic and cultural ties between Western Australia and the global community.
