(Feb 1): Singapore’s international visitor arrivals doubled in 2023 from the year ago to reach 13.6 million, led by a strong demand from the financial hub’s key markets, including Indonesia, China and Malaysia.
The country’s tourism receipts last year are estimated to reach S$24.5 billion (RM86.41 billion) to S$26 billion, surpassing official forecasts of S$18.0 to S$21.0 billion, according to a statement from the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).
The STB expects the tourism sector’s recovery to continue in 2024, driven by improved global flight connectivity and capacity as well as the implementation of the mutual 30-day visa-free travel between China and Singapore, according to the statement.
It sees 2024 international visitor arrivals reaching around 15 to 16 million, bringing in approximately S$26 billion to S$27.5 billion in tourism receipts.
