Ever since Taylor Swift began her Eras tour last year, it has become a massive phenomenon. From selling out massive arenas within minutes, to crashing Ticketmaster upon just the presale in the US, the Eras Tour made headlines right from the start. As the pop princess became the flavour of the season wherever she performed, Swifties in Singapore and everywhere else found new ways to enjoy her music by organising Taylor Swift themed parties and other events.

Ahead of the singer’s six upcoming concerts here this March, there are several events being planned to keep up Swiftie mania. It was recently announced that Jewel Changi Airport will be hosting a special sing-along event for fans on March 1, one day before Swift kicks off her National Stadium gigs from March 2 to 9.

Singapore is one of only two stops in Asia for the singers’ Eras Tour. Prior to her Singapore tour, she performed in Tokyo in February. With the other Asian countries left out of the tour, Swifties from these regions have a chance to experience the Eras tour at home as the streaming release date for the concert film was announced recently. It will be streaming on Disney+ from March 15.

While the steep ticket prices — and difficulty in even procuring tickets from the sales — for the tours have hindered some Swifties from witnessing her mesmerising performances in reality, these haven’t stopped them from hosting sing-along nights, dance parties and trivia nights, all celebrating Taylor Swift in unique ways. In fact, there’s even a cruise centred on the pop star’s cultural impact and discography.

Taylor Swift themed parties and events in Singapore and around the world

Taylor-gating picnics

Where: Worldwide

Leave it to Swifties to come up with creative ideas on how to celebrate their icon. The concept of “Taylor-gating” ( a quirky spin to ‘tailgating’) was introduced by those who were unable to grab tickets to her shows. Fans have been known to hold their own listening parties outside of stadiums and in the parking lots of the venues. It all started in April last year, when a TikToker shared a video from one of Swift’s shows in Tampa saying that fans could see and hear everything for free while sitting on a picnic blanket outside.

The trending TikTok video then led to other fans coming together for Taylor-gating picnics. Dressed in sequins and representing their favourite eras by sporting DIY outfits, fans camped outside venues with cosy blankets. Some Swifties also hosted sing-along parties in parking lots.

Expect a similar scene to take place at the National Stadium, with throngs of Swifties who didn’t manage to snag tickets gathering outside to listen to the music from Swift’s concert. At Coldplay and Ed Sheeran‘s recent sold-out gigs in Singapore, fans arrived in droves to do the same outside the stadium.

The Taylor Party

Where: United States

Some Swifties just want to Shake It Off and The Taylor Party is one such dance party where they can let loose and bust some moves to their favourite artist’s music. The themed club night offers an evening of singing and dancing to Swift’s tracks along with a fun inclusion of cocktails named after her songs such as a Cruel Summer Sangria.

From dancing to Bad Blood and Delicate to collectively singing all the lyrics to All Too Well (10-minute Taylor’s Version) and other popular numbers, this dance party is every Swiftie’s dream night out. The event takes place across several US cities at different venues in 2024, and party tickets are available to book online here.

‘In My Cruise Era’

Where: United States

The cultural influence of Taylor Swift is undoubtedly at its peak. The singer has inspired everything from university courses to museum exhibitions and now, there’s also a Taylor Swift-themed cruise. While the cruise is not affiliated with the singer-songwriter herself, it is called “In My Cruise Era,” and has been planned by Swift fans and the agency Marvelous Mouse Travels. In October 2024, fans can set sail aboard Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas for a four-night roundtrip from Miami.

The cruise departs from Miami on October 21, which is a day after the singer’s three-night concert series there. It will then head toward Coco Cay and sail south for the Bahamas. The cruise offers a range of activities like themed karaoke nights, dance parties and trivia nights, all related to the singer. Cruisers are also expected to participate in themed parties with outfits based on Swift’s eras. The cost for the cruise’s tickets begins at approximately USD 1,573 and it has already been sold out.

Swiftogeddon, a weekly club night

Where: United Kingdom

Being a Swiftie is a collective experience and celebrating this feeling of being in a community and appreciating every lyric and beat of a Taylor Swift song is what Swiftogeddon is all about. What started off as a Taylor Swift special club night has now become a regular event which takes place across the UK every weekend. Started by Dave Fawbert, a DJ and former journalist, this club night offers Swifties a euphoric experience.

According to those who have attended the event, a strong sense of sisterhood reverberates around the venue as everyone sings and dances to each lyric like the story of each track belongs to them. With Swift’s Eras tour slated to make its UK stops in London, Liverpool from May to June 2024, Swiftogeddon parties are planned across all cities there.

Friendship bracelet workshops

Where: Singapore and Malaysia

Ahead of Swift’s upcoming tour in Singapore which begins on March 2, there are several events being organised to gather Swifties, including a fun friendship bracelet workshop. Popular hotpot spot Haidilao has added a friendship bracelet making station to its City Square and Bedok outlets, available on weekdays from 10 AM to 10.30 PM. Guests are entitled to one bracelet each while stocks last, and will be provided with a variety of charms and colourful beads to choose from.

Local fan club SG Swifties has also organised past Taylor Swift events for fans in Singapore to mingle, sing songs, and craft friendship bracelets together. Even Singapore’s National Library Board has jumped on the bandwagon with friendship bracelet-making sessions at selected public libraries. The first event takes place on February 24 at Serangoon Public Library and you can reserve a spot here. A full list of dates and venues can be found on NLB’s website.

A similar friendship bracelet making workshop is also being held in Malaysia. At Selangor’s Roll Roll Bakehouse, Swifties are invited for an afternoon full of fun with colourful beads and glittery trinkets to fashion a bracelet for themselves.

A Taylor Swift themed flea market

Where: Vancouver, Canada

As Taylor Swift gears up to take her Eras tour to Canada, Swifties from Vancouver will get a chance to celebrate the pop star and everything about her music at a special Swiftie-themed flea market on March 9.

The event will include trivia quizzes and games, cocktails tailor-made to the themes of Swift’s albums, and live music which will include local artists performing covers of Swift’s most popular tracks. A friendship bracelet making station will allow Swifties to indulge in some fun arts and crafts.

A pop up cafe

Where: Singapore

To celebrate her Eras tour, a pop-up cafe inspired by the singer will be hosted all through the month of March at Main Street Commissary. Swifties will get a chance to participate in several activities, including friendship bracelet-making and trying out Taylor Swift themed food and drinks. There will also be photo booths where Swifties can capture their photos and flaunt their Eras outfits.

A cookie making workshop

Where: Montana, Canada

Swifties with a sweet tooth can flock to this delightful Montana event, which brings together their favourite artist and all things sugary in a cookie-making workshop. The baking class includes designing cookies inspired by the albums Reputation, Speak Now, Midnights and the Eras Tour. It also provides a chance for Swifties to come together and discuss their love for the artist, reveal their favourite songs, exchange friendship bracelets, and more.

Ukulele workshop for Swifties

Where: Bengaluru, India

Celebrating Swift’s music in a unique way, a Taylor Swift themed ukulele workshop is set to take place in Bengaluru, India. The workshop will host all Swifties who wish to learn how to play their favourite artist’s tracks on the ukulele. The songs that will be taught during this workshop include some of the singer’s best works from All Too Well to Love Story and Teardrops On My Guitar. This event also gives young adult Swifties a chance to learn a new skill while appreciating her music. The workshop will take place from February 25 to March 10. Interested Swifties can reserve a spot for the event here.

Fan festival and Eras club night

Where: Manila, Philippines

A Taylor Swift special fan festival is set to take place at the SM Center Sangandaan mall in Manila. The event has been organised in collaboration with the artist’s local fan club, TS Secret Sessions Philippines. The event will be a celebration of Swift’s music through all the Eras, and attending Swifties are expected to dress up according to their favourite era and exchange friendship bracelets to further lift up the spirit of the gathering. The fan festival is set to take place on February 25, and registration for the same is available on the SM Malls app.

Another major event that will be taking place for Swifties in the Philippines is the Eras Night, a 7-hour all night long Taylor Swift party. It is the perfect pre-event celebration for those attending the concert in Singapore, and of course, a good compromise for those who will miss their chance to witness her performances in person. The Eras Night is set to take place on February 24 at Bodega 2.0 in Pasay City.

Party celebrating Taylor Swift’s hits

Where: Guangzhou, China

Swifties in Guangzhou will get a chance to groove to Swift’s best hits at a club night dedicated to the singer. For fans who want to get into the Eras tour spirit without having to travel to her concert venues, parties such as this are the perfect way to embrace their Swiftie fever. The party is set to be held on February 23 at The Goat, and tickets and reservations for the same can be found online. Fans can emulate Swift’s signature red lip and dress up in their favourite era outfit to dance the night away at this event.

Women’s Day special Swifties night

Where: Estonia

To celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2024, a club in Tallinn, Estonia is hosting a Taylor Swift special party. The event will celebrate the singer as one of the most iconic female artists of the generation and play her chart-topping hits. Swifties can sing along to the empowering anthems of the musician to celebrate the spirit of womanhood. The artist’s musical journey will be explored all through the evening, and Swifties can expect to party to tracks from her early years, Taylor’s Version re-releases, and Vault numbers. The tickets for the event are currently on sale.

Karaoke party to celebrate her new album

Where: Jakarta, Indonesia

At the Grammy Awards 2024, Taylor Swift announced her upcoming album The Tortured Poets Department. Afterwards, the singer also released the tracklist in an Instagram post, further increasing the anticipation among Swifties. To celebrate the release of her new album on April 19, a special karaoke party will be held by the singer’s fan club in Jakarta as well as in other Indonesian cities. The exact dates for the party are yet to be announced, but it is expected to follow the release of the album on April 19. The karaoke party will give the singer’s fans a chance to sing their hearts out to all the latest tracks, as well as appreciate the lyrics of the new songs together.
