The Chair of the Margaret River-Busselton Tourism Association, Stuart Hicks, argues that incorporating international flights into the Capes must be a priority in future plans for Busselton Airport in Western Australia. He is awaiting the release of a new business plan for the thriving airport which currently operates with a mix of direct Jetstar flights from Sydney and Melbourne in addition to fly-in/fly-out flights. Hicks asserts that the South-East Asian market, particularly Singapore, has always been a significant target that necessitates crucial infrastructure upgrades such as a new passenger terminal, and improved customs and immigrations facilities. Regardless of these expansion aims, Hicks also maintains the importance of continuing to develop the airport’s interstate routes.
