South Africa’s hosting of next year’s G20 Leaders’ Summit will translate into long-term growth of the country’s MICE sector believe the majority of respondents to Tourism Update’s latest poll:
- 42% said the summit will catalyse long-term growth of the MICE sector beyond the event
- 33% said the event will not catalyse long-term growth
- the remainder are “unsure”.
The Department of International Relations and Cooperation has set aside R497 million (€26.4 million) for the hosting of the summit – expected to take place in November 2025 – and other events associated with South Africa assuming presidency of the G20 bloc of countries.
