Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, led a delegation to Beijing, People’s Republic of China, on October 25, 2025, to strengthen the tourism partnership between Thailand and China. The visit aimed to enhance cooperation and promote quality tourism experiences between the two nations.
During her visit, Minister Sudawan held discussions with Mr. Zhang Jianzhong, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China. The talks focused on reviewing existing tourism cooperation and developing a new joint action plan. Key areas of emphasis included promoting quality tourism, ensuring the safety of Chinese tourists, and facilitating seamless travel experiences. The Thai delegation, which included Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Asia and South Pacific, reiterated Thailand’s commitment to prioritizing tourist safety and showcasing diverse tourism products.
Future initiatives discussed encompassed continued cooperation on the “Happy Chinese New Year” 2025 festival, which will be celebrated in Thailand. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) also plans to participate in ITB China 2025 in Shanghai to further promote Thai tourism offerings to the Chinese market. Additionally, plans were outlined for a media familiarisation trip to Thailand for Chinese media, intending to introduce new destinations and unique travel experiences.
The Minister underscored China’s significance as a crucial market for Thai tourism. She highlighted the potential for growth across various tourism segments, including wellness, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), luxury travel, and cultural tourism. The discussions confirmed a shared commitment to developing new strategies that enhance the overall travel experience for Chinese visitors to Thailand.
