To reignite tourism during the off-peak season, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is set to roll out a groundbreaking project showcasing the nation’s top 72 must-do activities.
Moreover, the initiative is also geared towards commemorating His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn’s sixth cycle birthday anniversary on July 28 this year, revealed TAT governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool.
From the electrifying world of Muay Thai to tantalising culinary adventures, from immersing in rich cultural experiences to exploring vibrant local fashion and captivating shows, the selection promises an unforgettable journey through Thailand’s essence.
“We’re in talks with private agencies to spearhead extensive campaigns, boosting domestic tourism. This includes bolstering support for tour bus operators, promoting enriching seminar trips, and encouraging government officials to explore domestic destinations.”
Highlighting the Middle East as a pivotal market, Thapanee underscored plans to amplify flight frequencies, capitalising on the region’s fondness for Thai travel even during the rainy season. Assuring resilience amidst geopolitical dynamics, she reassured that Thai tourism remains unwavering.
“With the buzz around the 2024 Olympic Games drawing travellers to Paris, we’re rolling out a special treat for European tourists – catch the games live while soaking in Thailand’s tropical charm.”
Looking ahead, TAT sets its sights on wooing Chinese tourists during the National Day festivities in October. Festivals set against the picturesque backdrop of Yaowarat Road, the Hat Yai district of Songkhla, Phuket, and Ratchaburi will be the magnets for this campaign.
Optimistically, the TAT governor forecasts foreign arrivals to soar to 39 million this year, surpassing the agency’s target by a notable margin, reported The Nation.
This influx is anticipated to pump a staggering 3.5 trillion baht into the economy, aligning seamlessly with the government’s strategic vision.
In related news, in honour of His Majesty the King’s 72nd birthday, the Thai government earmarked 10 initiatives, one of which includes the allocation of 72,000 rai of military-owned land for public use.
These projects were unveiled yesterday during the second meeting of the celebratory committee, presided over by Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin.
