Turkey is a chameleon: the country can be whatever you need at any given time, whether that’s a fly-and-flop beach break, a cultural tour de force, an open-air museum, a ski resort, an adventure playground or a wine and food paradise. It’s hardly surprising, then, that it has charmed so many over the years, from Agatha Christie to Kate Moss via Arthur Conan Doyle (the latter on the invite of Sultan Abdulhamid II, who was very fond of detective novels).
