British holidaymakers visiting Turkey have been warned to exercise caution when using public transport and while out and about in major tourist areas. The UK government advises against travel to certain parts of Turkey, while safety advice has been shared for tourists visiting safe-to-travel regions like Istanbul, Antalya and Bodrum.
The Foreign Office currently advises against all travel to within 10km of the border with Syria and advises against all but essential travel to Sirnak city and Hikkari Province. All other parts of Turkey are considered to be generally safe for travel, although the UK Foreign Office has issued warnings relating to crime, terrorism, as well as local laws and customs that tourists are expected to follow.
