The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) Office in Turkey recently promoted Greece as a tourist destination in Istanbul. This initiative, guided by GNTO Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis, aimed to strengthen tourism ties and enhance tourist flows from Turkey to Greece.
A presentation and a business workshop (B2B) were conducted at a central hotel in Istanbul, drawing participation from Turkish travel agencies, tour operators, and media representatives. The promotion leveraged the prevailing friendly climate in Greek-Turkish relations and the recent visa facilitation for Turkish citizens traveling to the Greek islands.
During the event, significant advantages of Greece as a travel destination were emphasized. These included short distances, numerous available ferry connections, and shared historical and cultural elements between the two countries. Attendees expressed particular interest in the Aegean islands, Greece’s cultural heritage, gastronomy, alternative tourism options, and city break destinations such as Athens and Thessaloniki.
Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis highlighted the importance of the Turkish market for Greek tourism. He stressed the need for ongoing actions to promote Greece in Turkey and underscored the friendly disposition of the Greek government and its people towards Turkish visitors. The GNTO Office in Turkey intends to continue its promotional activities across Turkey in the upcoming period, focusing on specific cities and regions.
