Turkey in the first quarter of this year, has recorded an increase in income from tourism by 31.3 percent compared to last year, reaching the figures of 4.25 billion dollars.
The Turkish Institute for Statistics (TurkStat) has published its report on Monday, which states that 76.1 percent of tourism revenues are made by foreign tourists, while the rest by citizens living abroad.
Turkey welcomed over 6.1 million tourists in the first quarter of 2018, which is an increase of 26.4 percent from the same period last year.
“While 80.2 percent of the visitors were foreigners, 4.908.831 people, 19.8 percent of them were Turkish citizens living abroad, or 1.213.351,” says TurkStat.
