A woman who travelled to Turkey to have a gastric band fitted suffered an ‘agonising, horrific death’ after botched surgery, MPs have been told.
Shannon Bowe, 28, was left ‘convulsing’ for nine hours before she died after the operation went wrong.
Ms Bowe, from Falkirk, was just one of 28 Britons who have died since 2019 following elective procedures abroad, foreign minister Leo Docherty told the Commons yesterday.
Falkirk MP John McNally said ‘far too many people’ had died after being operated on abroad, as he called for health tourism adverts to be banned.
