Patients travelling abroad for obesity surgery, because of long waiting lists in the UK, are returning home with complications, surgeons have warned.
Birmingham-based Rishi Singhal said three patients with complications from the surgery in Turkey were discussed at his hospital last week.
Mr Singhal also said he had treated three patients in the last month at Heartlands Hospital.
Another surgeon said he had seen nerve damage in patients after surgery.
Brain specialist Dr David Nicholl said he had seen two such patients in the same week, following obesity health tourism.
The General Medical Council (GMC) has said it will write to the Turkish government over the way British patients are being recruited for surgery.
