Brought by Turkish Airlines and the Basque government through Basquetour, 10 Turkish journalists visited us for the purpose of introducing the Basque Country to the most influential media in Turkey.
Since regular flights began between Istanbul and Bilbao, over 41,352 passengers have used this service. Tourist and business traffic grew, especially from Turkey to the Basque Country, and the visit by the 10 journalists aims to present the Basque Country to 15 million potential Turkish visitors. This air link between Bilbao and Istanbul is also helping – and will help in 2014 – to provide access to markets further away, in Asia and the Middle East, as this Turkish city is the gateway to Europe.
