British holidaymakers with trips booked to Turkey have been warned about ‘large fines’ for people caught breaking local laws in holiday hotspots like Bodrum, Antalya and Istanbul. Millions of Brits visit Turkey each year and it’s one of UK’s favourite holiday destinations after Spain.
As with any destination abroad, it’s important for travellers to be aware and follow the rules in the place they’re staying – or risk receiving a fine or even a prison sentence for breaking the law. The UK Foreign Office has issued advice to all tourists visiting Turkey on holiday and makes specific mention to five rules that hold hefty fines.
One which carries a particularly ‘large’ fine affects travellers hiring quadbikes or mopeds – a common activity for travellers looking to explore Turkey’s spectacular coastline and hidden gems. Anyone wanting to hire a quadbike in Turkey will need specific travel insurance to do so as it’s considered an extreme sport.
