BHG – On March 30, a seminar entitled ‘Positioning and building Ha Giang Province’s tourism brand in regional connection’ was held at Yen Bien Luxury Hotel in Ha Giang City by the provincial People’s Committee in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Vietnam Tourism Association.

In recent years, the Ha Giang provincial authorities have issued many guidelines and policies to promote tourism development, and achieved many important results in this work.

The number of visitors to the province has been continuously increasingin recent years. In 2023 alone, the province greeted 3.2 million visitors, and the figure was estimated at over 850,000 in the first quarter of 2024.

Experts and participants discuss way to manage and develop Ha Giang’s tourism brand.

Notably, in 2023, Ha Giang tourism won recognition by many prestigious organisations and media agencies. Accordingly, the province was voted Asia’s leading emerging tourism destination at the 30th World Travel AwardsAsia & Oceania. The US-based New York Times ranked Ha Giang 25th among 52 best places to travel in the world. Google announced that Ha Giang ranked in the top 4 among the 10 most-searched tourist destinations in the 2023 ‘Year in Search’ list. Booking.com also selected Ha Giang as one of ten friendliest destinations in Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Ha Giang Provincial People’s Committee Tran Duc Quy emphasised building a tourism brand is difficult, but it is even harder to maintain the brand. Therefore, the organisation of this seminar is an important and urgent task as it provided the opportunity for the provincial authorities to collect opinions, suggestions, and experience from experts and participantsin order to work out fundamental solutions to overcome the bottlenecks facing tourism development, thus creating a solid foundation to further promote available tourism resources and boostgreen and sustainable tourism growth.

Vice Chairman of Ha Giang Provincial Peoples Committee Tran Duc Quy awards Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial Peoples Committee to collectives who have made significant contributions to the developmentof Ha Giang tourism.

For his part, Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, expressed his delight and impression on the strong development of Ha Giang Province’stourism in recent years.

He conveyed his belief that with the province’s decisive policies, efforts and determination, the local tourism will continue to prosper in the coming time. He also said the province will soon realise the goal of turning tourism into a key economic sector, successfully developing the national tourist area of Dong Van Stone Plateau by 2030, and establishing itself as an impressive destination for visitors at home and abroad.

A tourist product linking two UNESCO-recognised global geo-parks including the Ha Giang Province’s Dong Van Karst Plateau and Cao Bang Province’s Non Nuoc Cao Bang made its debut within the framework of the seminar.
