BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Sunday after Thanksgiving is like the Super Bowl of traveling. Millions upon millions around the country heading home after a Thanksgiving feast, and our town is no exception.
The base of the grapevine is one of, if not the busiest, area in Kern County during the busiest travel day of the year, as droves of people pass north and south through this travel hotspot.
DC Williams of the California Highway Patrol said they estimated around 100,000 cars and more than 300,000 people traveled through the oasis on Sunday. It’s an area that sees travelers not just making their way back to the Golden Empire, but throughout the Golden State.
