London-based navigation app Citymapper has been acquired by tech firm Via in a cash-and-stock deal. The transaction will allow Via to embed Citymapper’s functions into its own platform, thereby creating a holistic transport system that can offer an excellent journey planning experience. The size of the deal has not been disclosed by Via. Azmat Yusuf, Citymapper’s CEO, has spoken highly of Via’s shared mission to improve urban transportation efficiency, sustainability and accessibility, and views this acquisition as a chance to reach and benefit a larger audience.
