Bhutan’s Department of Tourism has introduced a new crypto payment system in collaboration with Binance Pay and DK Bank, aiming to modernize travel transactions and boost digital adoption in the country’s growing tourism sector.
Binance announced that Bhutan travelers who hold Binance accounts can now use cryptocurrency to pay for a wide range of travel-related services. These include flight tickets, hotel accommodations, guided tours, and various other offerings. The platform will support payments in more than 100 digital assets, including Bitcoin (BTC), USD Coin (USDC), and Binance’s own BNB token.
The crypto payment system enables businesses in Bhutan to accept crypto-based transactions through a QR code-based system, allowing seamless mobile transactions. This effort is particularly aimed at supporting small vendors and rural artisans who often lack access to traditional payment infrastructure such as card terminals.
