American Airlines has temporarily paused its hiring of new pilots until December. The decision is due to the airline’s reevaluation of its growth plans for the year amid a weaker financial outlook for the second quarter. Existing pilots are unaffected, however some who had been offered conditional jobs may not start until after the hiring freeze. The pause will help the carrier optimize its capacity and align growth plans to the current airline needs.
