Jamaica is seeking to leverage Dubai-based Emirates Airline—one of the world’s largest airlines—to tap new tourist markets in South America, India, and the Middle East.
tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett is optimistic about the potential for increased connectivity from Dubai to Colombia and onward to Jamaica, especially with Emirates‘ recent announcement of direct flights to Bogotá starting in June.
Minister Bartlett has had “fruitful” discussions with senior Emirates executives at the Arabian Travel Market, held May 6-9 in Dubai, the leading global event for the travel industry in the Middle East.
A team from Jamaica will visit Latin America next month and India in September to further explore these opportunities.
