Starting from 14 June, there will no longer be a requirement for passengers to remove certain items from their carry-on luggage due to the implementation of new scanning technology.
This advancement, costing £11.5 million, will render the 100ml liquids rule obsolete. However, a temporary limit of 330ml will be imposed at Bristol until the required regulatory approval for a full two-litre allowance is secured.
In a statement, Bristol’s Chief Operating Officer, Graeme Gamble, expressed his excitement about the upgrade, stating: “We are thrilled that all travellers departing from Bristol airport will get to experience the latest technology in security. The new system will simplify the process for passengers, as they will no longer have to put their 100ml liquids in transparent plastic bags or take them out of their carry-on luggage…”
